 The Thrill of Victory. The 1987 District Championship game against Top Ten Ranked Big Rapids, 51-37. In the North Central Conference the Chippewas were Tri-Champions with Cadillac and Big Rapids. In the first round of the District the Chips beat Cadillac 47-43, second game 58-38 over Chippewa Hills and in Championship stopping Big Rapids. The five players on the right; Alissa Hutson, Kelly Kruwell, Co-Captains LeAnne Edmondson and Leshia Sadler, and Kim Kott show their exuberance at the end of the game. Also in the picture (after Kim Kott), Laurie Majchrzak and Suzie Dietz fresh up from the Junior Varsity for the Tournament. The night after the game, sadly, Suzie Dietz passed away in a car accident. She did fulfilled of her dream of wearing the Chippewa uniform and playing in a game. She had commented she was so proud of wearing the Chippewa uniform. The Chippewas now have the “Suzie Dietz” Award in her name given to the player that best demonstrates the hard work ethic Suzie played with every practice and game. She was an inspiration to all of us and we sadly miss her and her enthusiasm. This picture was given to me by my long time friend and Assistant Coach, Jerry Brown. Thanks so very much Jerry, it hangs in my computer room and I see it everyday…I treasure immensely.

Tradition after Games and Practices.
After every game and practice the team would circle up and after a few words from the coaches we would swing our arms, say together and clap our hands. The signal our resolve of unity and dedication to be the best we could be. The Tradition became so noticeable after games the crowd and well-wishers would circle around us and yell together with us. That gave us unity with our many faithful fans.

 3. Enthusiasm is a big key to success and winning, coaches and players on the bench (reserves and starters) are expected to give their fair share of support to the players on the court. Yes, that's a starter cheering on her teammates...thats enthusiasm and team spirit.
ATTITUDE
Attitude, as most coaches say, is probably the most Important aspect of the game. What is your attitude? All of us have good attitude when things are going well, when we are the stars of our teams and winning big games. But attitude goes beyond that. What Is your attitude when your team is losing, when the referees are making calls which go against you or your team, when you are open and your teammates don't get you the ball, and when your coach is chewing you out for something which isn't your fault?
A good attitude is something you have to decide consciously to have. In bed at night you have to be able to close your eyes and see yourself as the player you want to be under all circumstances. A good attitude is being calm under pressure (poise); it is encouraging teammates even when the coach in practice is being particularly negative; it is requiring of yourself your- peak performance at all times—which means actually touching the line (not almost touching it; when your coach says to run to midcourt and back. A good attitude is seeing yourself in advance, with your eyes closed, performing to your utmost under all sorts of adverse circumstances, and actually doing that when those circumstances arise.
Can you picture yourself in practice being chewed out by your coach for something that you know was not your fault, and simply accepting it, thinking over the point he is trying to get across and merely reaffirming to yourself that you will never make that mistake? Can you accept his criticism as a reminder instead of getting angry and losing your concentration? Not many players can do that. Not even a lot of good ones. But it IS possible. The players who can are special. They are a joy to coach, they are great to have as teammates, and they help create winning teams.
 A good attitude is very simple. It is doing your best at all times, keeping your concentration on your job, on the things you have to do to play well. It Is easy to write down, but a lot more difficult to do.
Can you make yourself hustle when you're out of breath and your legs are lead weights? Can you keep encouraging your teammates even though you think some of them are passing poorly or are shaky on defense or are just not working hard. Can you accept your coach's criticism and listen to what he is saying even when you feel sure he is wrong? Can you listen and think that maybe, just maybe, YOU could be wrong? Can you give your best under all circumstances—or are there things that cause you to lose poise or temper or hustle or your concentration?
What is YOUR vision of the ideal player and the ideal attitude? What is your vision of YOU? Close your eyes....
YOUR PROBLEMS WILL NEVER DEFEAT YOU, BUT YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARD THEM CAN.
